Kids Helping Homeless Kids

posted Aug 10, 2010, 8:04 AM by Rebecca Baker   [ updated Aug 10, 2010, 8:30 AM ]
When:        August 28
Time:         8:00am till 1:00.
Where:      Walker Ranch Park

Two Castle Hills students, Hailey and Bryce Drzymalla are spearheading a Food and Toy drive to help the 9,000 children in the San Antonio area who are homeless. The sister and brother have obtained permission to use Walker Ranch Park for a donation drive, and would love for their school mates to join in this worthy cause.  You can see the WOAI news featuring Bryce and Hailey on the WOAI media center and read more about it on the WOAI web site. How can you help?

Collect Items

First, help collect the items needed for the drive; the items need to be non-perishable and individually wrapped and they are listed below.  (CHE is collecting these items in boxes at the school)
  • One gallon zip lock bags
  • Peanut butter or cheese crackers
  • Fruit roll ups and other fruit snacks (gummies)
  • Small bottles of water
  • Granola bars
  • Vienna sausages in a can (pop top)
  • Tuna cans (small individual with a pop top)
  • Fruit cups
  • Animal crackers-cookies (nothing that will melt)
  • Toothbrushes and individual toothpaste (call your dentist and ask for donations)
  • Hand wipes (individual) like the kind you get at some restaurants
  • Small stuffed animal no larger than 6-8 inches (it has to fit in the bag with the other things)
  • We would also like to include a hand-written note of encouragement and support
(CHE is collecting these items in boxes at the school)

Donate your time!

Hailey and Bryce will also need lost of help for the event. If you'd like to help out, email their mom Nancy at nwiseman@satx.rr.com.
