Texas PTA Concludes Press Tour With A Letter To Governor Perry Personally Delivered

posted May 20, 2011, 5:26 AM by Rebecca Baker   [ updated May 20, 2011, 5:29 AM ]
Texas PTA has spent the last three days traveling to many areas of the state to meet with parents, educators and concerned citizens who continue to express disappointment in the failure to meet the minimum funding requirements. From Harlingen to Lubbock, El Paso to Houston and Dallas to Midland, the answer is clear that Texans want our leaders in Austin to utilize additional revenue sources to mitigate drastic budget cuts in their communities. The press tour came to a close today in Austin with a press conference at the Texas PTA office at 2:30 and a trip to the Capitol. Texas PTA President Sharon Goldblatt, along with Texas PTA Vice Presidents Karen Slay and Leslie Boggs, hand-delivered letters to Governor Perry, Lt. Governor Dewhurst, Speaker Strauss, Representative Pitts and Senator Ogden. All of the letters had the same message and the letter to Governor Perry is posted on the Texas PTA Website.

Texas PTA sends a sincere thanks to all the PTA members, teachers, administrators and media who attended the conferences and helped Texas PTA send a message for every child with one voice.
