How We Can HelpThe library has a host of things available to help you find just the right material for your specific needs. Here is just a sampling of some of the many ways we are working to meet student needs:
Computers: We have 7 computers available to students wanting to use the library catalog to find a book, do online research, or work on any word processing or PowerPoint project.
iBistro: The library has an online public access catalog that you can use to find just the right book for you. This catalog can also be searched from the classrooms, computer labs, or any other computer, including your home PC, that has internet access.
Teacher Initiated Research: Teacher initiated research is strongly encouraged. In a whole class situation, a team teaching approach will be used.
Magazines:
The library subscribes to many magazines for students to read for leisure and/or information. Students who forget to bring back books are always encouraged to read a magazine if their class comes to the library that day .
Displays:
We really appreciate the opportunity to display student work. Classes are invited to share their learning with the whole school. Items will be displayed for two weeks. Teacher Interlibrary Loan (ILL) In need of certain literature that is not carried by Castle Hills, teachers can request items housed throughout the district. This opens up our collection to thousands of books not able to be shelved here on campus. |
Inviting AtmosphereOur mission is to provide a warm, welcoming environment where students are empowered to become life-long learners and effective users of ideas, information and technology. We strive to provide integrated learning experiences that support, complement and extend classroom instruction. We promote life-long reading and learning for pleasure and for information. Our students visit our library weekly for stories, lessons and to check out books.

Teacher/Librarian collaborations will be based on the instructional TEKS taught in each grade level. These units will be taught integrating library skills with classroom content. These lessons will arranged by each grade level Teacher and Librarian. The length of each session will depend on the content.
